March 29th Group discussion

 Today my group and i came together to tweak and edit certain aspects of our film. We went over different transitions that could favor the flow of the film as well as imagery we can implement to make it look better. We also talked about on investing on a bluetooth microphone to amplify the sound within our video since thus of the iPhone although it is good and you can clearly hear our voices, it still picks up sound from the background.

Group Discussion

 Today we had a group discussion in which we conversed and techniques and ideas we implemented into our stories. We dove into topics such as where we stand within our projects and what we are missing and still have to do. We gave each other insight of or recordings and plots as well as well as advice on things such as techniques and equipment we could utilize to enhance the experience of the film. 

 To help us put our ideas down on paper we decided to develop 2 storyboards in order to paint the best image possible of what we are trying to do. Developing this story board surprisingly took us longer than expected since we all wanted to incorporate our own ideas into the story. Luckily we were able to find a balance in which we are all satisfied and were able to create the storyboards. Along the way we even went as far as to edit, and tweak any little mistakes or just simply things we wanted to add.

 During this week, my group and I were surprisingly productive. We met up and brainstormed a couple of times and even went on to begin our recording. There is still work to be done since Luis went on vacation for spring break, but as soon as he comes back we will be sure to get all of the things necessary done and proceed with the completion of our project.

Script explanation

 The idea behind this whole script is to truly emphasize the idea that people from the cartel are not nice people and treat even their closes employees poorly. We use the language displayed in the scripts to dilate the idea that being the head of an illegal organization is stressful, and the leaders are willing to do anything to get back what is rightfully theirs.

The script is not done and will definitely have some changes to it in order to try to perfect what a true narc would act like. We must really focus on things such as choice of words, tone and intention. This job being so stressful its only logical the head is in a constant bad mood hence him taking out his misfortunes on those who try to help him, in this specific case El Marino which is actually played by me.

 Script:

INT. HACIENDA - DAY

La cámara muestra una vista panorámica de las verdes montañas de Colombia. Luego, se acerca a una hacienda, donde vemos a Don Toro, un notorio narco señor, contando sus pilas de dinero. Su hombre de confianza, El Marino, está a su lado.

DON TORO:

Hable pues, malparido ¿Ya contaste toda la plata?

EL MARINO:

Sí, jefe. Conté todo. Pero tengo malas noticias. Don Mateo se apoderó de uno de nuestros almacenes.

DON TORO:

¿Cómo se atreve ese hijueputa? No voy a permitir que nos joda así. Marino, reúne a nuestros hombres y prepara las armas.que le vamos a dar chumbimba a esos sapos.

EL MARINO:

Patron pero ellos nos sobrepasan en personel, necesitamos más hombres

DON TORO: 

Usted trabaja para mi Marino!, ¡Usted hace lo que yo le digo hijueputa! Oigame bien malparido, reúna a las tropas ahorita mismo o el que se va a llevar el plomo es usted gonorrea.

EL MARINO: No patrón pero tranquilo, ahorita mismo les aviso no se preocupe.

INT. VILLA - DAY

La escena cambia a Don Mateo, quien también está contando su dinero en una lujosa villa. Su mano derecha, El Chivo, le informa del inminente ataque de Don Toro.

EL CHIVO:

Don Mateo, ese hijueputa Don Toro viene con todo.

DON MATEO:

¡Ese malparido no sabe con quién se mete! Chivo, avisa a los hombres. Vamos a darles una bienvenida bien hijueputa a esos bellacos. Dígale al Chihuahua que saque los juguetes y las trocas.

Plot

  Plot:

The opening shot of the film is a panoramic view of the lush green mountains of Colombia. The camera then zooms into a hacienda, where we see Don Toro, a notorious narco lord, counting his stacks of cash. His trusted henchman, El Marino, is by his side.

As they discuss their latest drug deal, they receive news that Don Mateo, a rival drug lord, has taken over one of their warehouses. Don Toro is furious and decides to launch a full-scale attack on Don Mateo's empire. El Marino is tasked with gathering their army of hitmen and mercenaries.

  

The film then cuts to Don Mateo, who is also counting his cash in a luxurious villa. His right-hand man, El Chivo, informs him of Don Toro's impending attack. Don Mateo is unfazed and orders his men to prepare for battle.

The scene ends with Don Toro and Don Mateo preparing for a bloody turf war, and El Marino and El Chivo readying their respective armies.

Schedule

 Our schedule to film would have to fit into everyone's itinerary in order to attend. As a rugby player I would have practice normally on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-9 but ever since my injury I am available every day to film. As for Luis, he does have active practice so me and Mateo, my fellow classmate could have to accommodate to his practice hours in order to get as much filming done as possible. 

At the time of filming, we have decided to fulfill the hardest shots first and later transition into the easier ones just to get them over with. Get all the shots necessary and get to editing as quick as possible to have more time to perfect our vision of what we are trying to get done. It's also hard to get everyone's availability to match because we had it planned to use extras to make the scene more realistic.

Outline

Genre

 The genre we have chosen to elaborate in is crime. Specifically, we will be utilizing the cartel drug lord feuds as the foundation of our conflict. We picked this topic because not only is it interesting be we all think it is an entertaining topic that will catch the eye of many people. Our research and time is being dedicated on the 2 major drug cartels in the world, them being " El cartel de Medellin" in Colombia, And "El cartel de Sinaloa" a cartel in Mexico. We chose these two countries because from them stemmed the most powerful and dangerous leaders to ever live, them being Pablo Escobar and El Chapo Guzman, who both (within their era) ruled over the drug distribution around the world and took advantage of governmental corruption to expand their empire across the planet. 

Research

 The research we have conducted so far has leaned more towards the behavior of our characters. Since our film will be affiliated with the cartel, we have researched how they dress as well as how they act. I reference point I personally have been using is the Netflix show Pablo Escobar El patron del mal" which is a Netflix series which goes into detail into the life of Pablo Escobar, at one point the most wanted man in the worlds for drug trafficking. He was a very impulsive person with a short temper who often had people killed for minor inconveniences, therefore we will try to implement his behavior of a "real life narc" to produce our film as adequately as possible. 

Planning

 Planning is intended to be as precise as possible to ensure efficiency while we work. Things such as brainstorming must take place in order to plan out what things we should actually do or simply consider. We later must ger a hold of things such as props and extra people that are willing to participate within our video. We later must shoot all of the scenes we schedule within our storyboards and edit them to fit the criteria we are looking for, edit it accordingly and hopefully have a result all group members are satisfied with.
